What tips should you consider for surfing for the first time?
Just before catching a wave, there's that "critical surfing moment"; when you and your board start to pick up speed, there are 3 possible outcomes:
Situation number 1: your body leans backward, shifting most of your body weight towards the tail of the board. Immediately, the board loses speed, and the wave passes under your board, without you having the chance to gain speed or even stand up. You and your body want to go forward and ride the wave, but your brain and its protective instinct do not. This is a very common situation in the first months of surfing. Basically, what we are going to do with systematic surfing practice is to re-program your brain, so that it stops interpreting the movement of the take-off as dangerous.
Situation number 2: you, your body, and your board at full speed rush quickly forward and down. The tip of your board makes contact with the water, it "buries" itself, and the tail violently lifts forward, launching you like a true catapult. You tumble several times inside the wave, unable to breathe, feeling like minutes have passed underwater.
An experienced surfer seeks and regulates this movement by lifting or bringing their chest closer to the board, to give it more impulse in small, slow, and "fat" waves, or less impulse for larger and more vertical waves.
Situation number 3: you paddle powerfully, the wave carries you, you feel your board lift and then the nose drops quickly but controllably, you lift or bring your chest closer to your board, regulating speed. Just before reaching the lowest part of the wave, you can push with your arms, launching your body up in a jump and quickly placing both feet on the board at the same time. You are standing, on the face of the wave. Now you are surfing!

Tips and conclusions to learn to surf better
When it comes to learning to surf in an improved way, we want to provide you with some final tips to consider:
1. Focus on practice: there are no magic formulas, as I mentioned earlier, remember that you have to re-program your brain not to feel fear, that is, to go against a natural protective instinct, and that is only achieved by "teaching" it through repetition that it is not dangerous and that you can master and control that critical moment. By mastering the situation, knowing your body, and controlling your board even before standing on it.
2. Use a suitable board: The correct choice of board is probably the biggest key in learning to surf. A board with adequate weight distribution, lightweight, and good buoyancy is fundamental. Personally, I always recommend the Double Agent 7.0 from Flysurf. It is a board that gives a lot of confidence to beginners, very stable, and safely allows you to increase your number of waves and surf.
3. Strengthen your lower back muscles: These are responsible for lifting or bringing your chest closer to the board. That is, they allow you to regulate how fast you descend the wave during the "critical moment."
We hope this article has helped you improve in the long process of learning to surf. Consistency makes a surf master. Reading the sea is very important, and using the right equipment is too. See you in the water!
